Dr. Newton has over 30 years of experience teaching, counseling, and advising undergraduate students, as well as 23 years of experience as Director of K-State’s University Counseling Services, a position he still holds. He has consulted and conducted workshops with dozens of colleges and universities on issues related to college student personnel services, and he has presented over 60 research papers at professional conferences. He has also published over 50 articles and book chapters on topics related to college student personnel services in such respected publications as the Journal of Counseling Psychology, the Professional Psychologist: Research and Practice, the Journal of College Student Development, and the Journal of Counseling and Development. Dr. Newton is a licensed psychologist and member of the American College Personnel Association, American Psychological Association, National Academic Advising Association, and the Association of College and University Counseling Center Directors.
