Scholarships Available from NACADA

Here’s a rundown of NACADA student scholarships with approaching deadlines:

Regional Grad Student Scholarships:

Award allows the student to attend a regional conference of their choice with free registration.  Travel expenses are your responsibility.  

Eligibility:

·        be a current NACADA student member at the time of scholarship application or be willing to join if receiving the scholarship. (Note: Student membership requires certification that the student is currently enrolled and is not fully employed in an advising position is required.)  

·        demonstrate an interest in advising as a profession

·        provide a description of goals to be accomplished through participation in the NACADA Regional Conferences.

Application deadline for Regions 1, 2, 4, 7, 9 conferences is 2/6/17

Application deadline for Regions 3, 5, 8 conferences is 2/13/17

Application deadline for Regions 6 and 10 conferences is 4/13/17

Graduate Research Symposium Scholarship:

Presented to selected members who are interested in research and the development of scholarly works. This program will give selected individuals an opportunity to come explore their own research ideas and turn these into action plans.  The scholarship will waive the student member registration fee to attend the NACADA Research Symposium held March 19-20, 2017 in Phoenix, AZ.  The provision of this type of support helps to advance the body of knowledge of academic advising while offering comprehensive professional development opportunities to NACADA members.  Travel expenses are your responsibility. 

Eligibility:

·        be a current NACADA regular or student member at the time of scholarship application or be willing to join if receiving the scholarship. (Note: Student membership requires certification that the student is currently enrolled and is not fully employed in an advising position is required)

·        demonstrate an interest in conducting and completing research within academic advising.

·        provide a description of goals to be accomplished through participation in the NACADA Research Symposiums

 Application deadline: 2/13/17

Annual Conference Graduate Scholarship:

Presented to selected student members pursuing graduate education at either the Master’s or Ph.D. or Ed.D. level. This program will give selected individuals studying in the academic advising field or those with an interest in pursuing a career in academic advising an opportunity to attend the 41st NACADA Annual Conference on Academic Advising in St. Louis, MO.  Eligibility:

·        be a current NACADA student member at the time of scholarship application or be willing to join if receiving the scholarship. (Note: Student membership requires certification that the student is currently enrolled and is not fully employed in an advising position.)

·        demonstrate an interest in advising as a profession.

·        provide a description of goals to be accomplished through participation in the NACADA Annual Conference

Award allows the student to attend the Annual Conference in St. Louis, MO and you pay no registration fee.  Travel expenses are your responsibility.

 Application deadline: 3/10/17

NACADA Scholarship:

The NACADA Scholarships are presented to selected members who are pursuing graduate education at either the Master’s or Ph.D. or Ed.D. level. The program supports a primary goal of the organization, which is to promote professional training of advisors. One $1,000 scholarship and four $500 scholarships may be awarded at the Annual Conference in fall.  Eligibility:

·        applicant must be a current member of NACADA,

·        a NACADA member for two years,

·        be currently enrolled in either a master’s or doctoral program and

·        must have worked as an academic advisor for two years with a minimum of a half-time appointment

Application deadline: 3/10/17 

Student Research Award:

The Student Research Awards annually recognize research conducted during a Master’s, Ed.D., or Ph.D. program that significantly adds to the body of knowledge on academic advising. A check for $500.00 and a plaque may be awarded in each category at the Annual Conference in fall.  The Student Research Award may be awarded annually in two categories in the Master’s Degree Level and Doctoral Degree Level.  Eligibility:

Any current NACADA member who is completing or has recently (within one year) completed research at either the Master’s level or at the Ed.D. or Ph.D. level that significantly adds to the body of knowledge on academic advising is eligible.
