Kansas State University (K-State) invites applications and nominations for a full-time, benefits eligible, term position of Program Assistant for the College of Arts & Sciences Pre-Health Professions Mentoring Program. This is a newly developed e-mentoring program for first-generation sophomores and juniors in Pre-Health fields. The students will be matched with alumni/ae working in health professions to which they are aspiring. Students in the program also will be invited to peer-group events on campus with local health professionals. This program will coordinate with activities conducted by the local chapter of Alpha Epsilon Delta, the pre-health honorary club.
The Program Assistant will work with A&S Dean’s Office staff in advertising the program and recruiting students and mentors and will monitor their interactions and coordinate student events. This individual also will be responsible for conducting pre- and post-participation surveys for both students and mentors and maintaining databases pertaining to all program participants. Occasional evening and weekend work will be required in connection with these activities. The position is based in Manhattan, KS.
Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree, be well organized, self sufficient, and have good interpersonal, time management and communication skills, as well as the ability to work and communicate effectively with individuals from diverse groups. Applicants also must have experience with Microsoft Office software. Preference will be given to applicants who have a master’s degree and previous higher education experience with students.
