A scholarship that provides financial assistance to degree-seeking graduate and undergraduate students in distance education degree programs offered through Kansas State University’s Division of Continuing Education is being awarded to five individuals for the fall semester.
Two of the recipients are Shay Dodson, master’s student in academic advising, Manhattan; and Karyn Raney, master’s student in academic advising, Schenectady, N.Y.
The division’s $1,000 Maurine Allison O’Bannon Memorial Scholarship is named for an alumna of the university’s class of 1915.
“Awarding this scholarship twice per year helps make higher education more attainable for adult students as they balance their education with other financial commitments,” said Sue C. Maes, dean of continuing education at K-State. “The division continually works with campus entities and university alumni to bring scholarship opportunities for distance education students.”
The application deadline for the spring 2013 O’Bannon Scholarship is Friday, Nov. 2. Application guidelines and additional financial aid and scholarship opportunities for distance education students are available at www.dce.k-state.edu/students/services/financial-aid.
