Student Finds Program Practical, Relevant and Indispensable

We continue with our student profiles.

Michael Howard
I have been an academic advisor for seven years at University of Mary Washington and currently serve as Assistant Dean for the Bachelor of Liberal Studies Program, which is an adult completion program for nontraditional adult learners. I am working towards my MS in Academic Advising at Kansas State University.

While attending Kansas State University, I have made substantive connections between theory and practice. K-State has given me the opportunity to explore historical, foundational and theoretical aspects behind what we do as academic advisors. I find that putting names to the theories and processes I have been using for years refreshing. I use bits and pieces of coursework in my day-to-day advising and have found the program invaluable. The program is practical, relevant, and indispensable for the advising professional.
